SHOSHINZ
A new kind of mad performance art!
Two delightful, musical maids will dazzle you with their bizarre,
hilarious stage antics.
"SHOSHINZ" is anglicized Japanese for "shy, timid
people," but SHOSHINZ are maids who are subservient to
nothing and no one.
These two maids never speak any words, but they sing and dance
and make a variety of sounds with their bodies.
They can communicate deeply with each other with their sounds
and voicesand hearts.
Watching them, your imagination will soar, and will remember
what your mostprecious treasure is.
Are you ready?
SHOSHINZ, consisting of Yanomi and Kuronatsu, started performing
in 2005. Both women also have careers as theater actresses in
Japan.
Yanomi has belonged to the Ryuzanji Company, a troupe which
has created a wide variety of theater works that they have performed
both inside Japan and outside: in Canada, Egypt, Russia, Iran,
and many Asian countries.
Kuronatsu has belonged to Theater Echo which is one of the most
famous comedy theater companies in Japan with over 50 years
of history.
They took all of their combined experience and formed SHOSHINZ,
giving their very first performances in a small bar in Tokyo.
With a strong desire to cross over genres, they have created
a fearless mix of antics and a truly unique show. They perform
tirelessly at bars,
live music venues, club events, parties, schools, theaters,
and also on the streets.
Regardless of age or sex or nationality, the audience is always
surprised and delighted to watch their show.
And most people come away from it unable to find words to describe
exactly what they have seen!
SHOSHINZ performed at The Montreal Fringe Festival
2007 and 2008, where many of their shows were standing-room
only. |
